HCL Technologies, a next-generation global tech company, stands out with its extensive network of research and development facilities and co-innovation labs spanning 52 countries. This unique setup fosters a culture that empowers all employees to think creatively and innovate together.
Our partnership with HCL Technologies in the UK has been a success story. Over the past six years Interior Options has been instrumental in delivering multi-trade installations across their UK base, fostering a strong and enduring relationship with this client.
HCL Technologies acquired 80 Gracechurch Street, to predominantly house a client-facing space to showcase the company’s products and services and reflect its drive for innovation and visionary ideology.
To support the client on this project, we worked as a workplace architect, surveyor, and main contractor.
The project involved close collaboration with their Indian and UK teams to ensure we fully appreciated how the space needed to work.
Our head designer, Katie, collaborated closely with the client, ensuring their vision was at the forefront of the design process, resulting in an agile and future-facing environment.
The designs were crafted to include communal areas for in-house and virtual collaboration, breakout areas for informal meetings, and booth seating for everyday work and socialising, all contributing to a dynamic and versatile work environment.
Katie’s design plan was not just about aesthetics, but also about functionality and inclusivity. She drew up a plan to maximise the use of natural light and the breathtaking views, ensuring that every aspect of the design catered to the needs and values of all the stakeholders. Her design choices, such as moss walls and natural colours, were not only visually appealing but also reflected the company’s ethos for inclusivity and sustainability. The result is an organic environment that fosters creative thinking.
Ensuring materials arrived on schedule was challenging in the months this project was running, an issue the entire industry was experiencing due to COVID-19. However, we were able to overcome this by leveraging our long-standing relationship with a reliable supply chain, which proved to be beneficial in times of crisis.
The project outcome was a testament to our team’s creativity and understanding of HCL’s business and culture. We successfully blended a biophilic theme with sophisticated hi-tech elements, bringing the outdoors into the office and creating a calming, thought-provoking environment.
The project was completed in four weeks, delivered on time and to budget. The client’s feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with all agreeing the re-designed space surpassed expectations.
