Charles Wilson Engineers is a privately owned plant and tool hire business, successfully established for over thirty years. During such time, they have developed a reputation for supplying quality plant equipment and providing the highest levels of customer service, which has underpinned their growth. Their business originated in Harpenden back in 1979, and now the impressive spread of their operation covers London and across the southeast, southwest, the Midlands and the northwest of England.

Project requirement

Charles Wilson commissioned the rejuvenation of their iconic Harpenden building, which in its first iteration served as a petrol station back in the ’50s and ’60s. The requisite was for both a complete interior and exterior uplift with explicit instruction not to lose key historical features of the building but to update the look and feel to current-day trends and technologies. Interior Options were tasked with not only the design and build of the workplace scheme but also the external uplift, ensuring feature updates did not contravene planning consent legislation. In preparation, two months of works were initialised for the safe management and handling of asbestos removal.
